Like other residential areas,
Upper Manhattan is not a major center of
tourism in New York City. However it is a
large and fascinating place where the identity
and characteristics of the neighborhoods change
almost every few blocks.
upper west side
It may not be as tweedy and artsy as it once was,
but the neighborhood is still home to artists, actors,
and writers, and not just in Jerry Seinfeld’s income bracket.
“It’s more diverse than people think. It’s not just mothers pushing carriages at Zabar’s.”
upper east side
With its world-famous museums, elite schools, luxury boutiques,
and proximity to Central Park, the family-oriented Upper East Side
is home to some of the city's richest residents. And yet,
just east of Lexington, the neighborhood can also be surprisingly affordable.
midtown
Midtown Manhattan is the largest central business district in the world,
however with its unique mix of commercial and residential properties,
the convenience of the area has made it among the most desirable places to live in New York.
downtown
"Forget all your troubles, forget all your cares, and go Downtown.”
It's where New York City began, and with its exciting mix of restaurants,
shops, financial institutions, museums, galleries, film centers, music
venues, clubs and more, it continues to make history.
